Silva refuses to blame Pickford for Spurs thrashing

Everton manager Marco Silva has refused to single out goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after the 6-2 thrashing by Spurs at Goodison Park, according to a report on the Independent.

Pickford was partly at fault for Tottenham’s equaliser as he came rushing out of the box, only to collide with teammate Kurt Zouma, allowing Heung-Min Son to curl the ball into the empty net.

Pickford was also lucky to escape without punishment for a late lunge on England colleague Dele Alli.

Despite his below-par performance, Silva believes that Pickford should be given all the blame because the rest of the team weren’t up to the required standard.

He said:

It is our job. Not just with Jordan, with all of them.

My job is to give them feedback. These type of things happen in the game.

It is something which has happened in the last few matches but we have to give them feedback to stop it happening again. Like you expect, everything that I can say about our players I will say inside the dressing room.

The Toffees found it extremely difficult to handle the free-flowing movement of the Tottenham forwards, especially Son and Harry Kane, who both scored a brace each.

Silva will be looking for his side to bounce back at Turf Moor against a struggling Burnley side on Boxing Day.
