Silva says Spurs game a chance for Everton to show their quality

Marco Silva says this weekend’s game against Tottenham is an opportunity to establish a glass ceiling for Everton on breaking into the top six.

The Toffees host Spurs at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, and the home side likely won’t be favourites to win the encounter.

Tottenham are third in the Premier League, and will head into the fixture with good confidence having exacted revenge on North London rivals Arsenal in mid-week, advancing to the Carabao Cup semi-final with a 2-0 win.

Everton meanwhile haven’t won in four, and Tottenham’s visit will be the first top six side to play the Blues at home this season.

Despite Spurs being labelled the most likely victors, Silva believes the game will mark a great opportunity for Everton to show off what they can achieve. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Silva said:

This will be our first game at home to the top six. It will be a good opportunity for us to show our quality.

We know their quality but we have all the confidence to play our game and do everything to win the match and show we are able to beat them.

In some moments we have missed something but I hope we learn from the situation.

Everton will follow up hosting Tottenham with away fixtures against Burnley and Brighton, before ending the year at home to Leicester.
