Silva tips Mina to score again soon – can the Colombian do so against Burnley?

Marco Silva has tipped Yerry Mina to get in among the goals for the club in due course.

The Colombia international has scored just the one goal since signing for Everton from Barcelona last summer, a header in a 5-1 routing over Burnley at Turf Moor on Boxing Day.

Ahead of returning to the Clarets’ ground, Silva has revealed that he is confident that it is only a matter of time until Mina finds the target once again.

The towering centre-back came close on a number of occasions from set-pieces against Manchester City last weekend, although several top drawer save from Ederson kept Mina at bay.

Talking about Mina’s goalscoring chances, as reported by Liverpool Echo, Silva said:

At set pieces he is really strong. When the ball comes in a good spot Mina does that.

Unfortunately for us he didn’t score but let’s hope he can in the next game because he is getting the chances. Amazing saves against Wolves and today Ederson made some fantastic saves.

Let’s hope that not just Mina but the others put the ball in the net because if we are more clinical the results will come.

I thought Mina was a genuine goal threat against City last weekend, and he was doing everything right except picking out a better placement on goal, although Ederson did save impressively from the shots that he did well.

Mina showed in the last World Cup that he can be really dangerous from set-pieces, and it is a shame that Everton fans haven’t seen that element of his game being utilised to maximum impact enough.

Hopefully Silva can help develop that element of his game, because he really does pose a threat from corner deliveries if we can get him on the end of them more often.
