Spanish midfielder keen to stay despite Everton interest

Everton are one of three teams interested in Espanyol midfielder David Lopez this summer.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Everton, Real Betis and Valencia are all keen on the player who has a €40 million release clause in his contract.

However, the report states that the player is not looking to leave Espanyol this summer.

Lopez was an ever-present figure in the Espanyol side last season in La Liga.

The Spaniard was a key figure in Rubi’s Espanyol last season and is not willing to risk a lack of regular game time elsewhere.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with a number of midfielders this summer as Marco Silva looks to put his own stamp on the squad.

Wilmar Barrios, William Carvalho and Andrea Bertolacci have all been linked with moves to Goodison Park this summer.

Everton are looking to replace Wayne Rooney, who left for DC United earlier this summer.
