Everton could consider moving for Napoli midfielder Allan in the near future, according to the print version of Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness.
It was reported last week by Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness, that Allan was Carlo Ancelotti’s “dream signing”, although Everton had been resigned to the fact that a deal would be ‘impossible’, leading the club to consider targets similar to the Brazilian instead.
However, latest reports from Corriere dello Sport appear to have reignited conversation over whether the Blues could realistically target the 29-year old midfielder.
According to a report from La Repubblica, as cited by Sport Witness, the Napoli midfielder was substituted against Fiorentina on Saturday, and the Brazilian was left unhappy, having ‘vanished from the stadium’.

This issue, the latest in a long line of problems at the San Paolo this season, has led Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) to speculate that there could be life in reports linking Allan to Everton, which the publication suggests could see ‘obsession’ become ‘negotiation’.
The report also claims that Everton would only move for Allan if they perceived the player’s time with the Partenopei to be clearly over, as an agreement with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis would make the Toffees unlikely to make their move otherwise.
Should the Blues decide to shore up their interest in Allan, the report claims that the Merseyside club could be used by Allan to pressurise Napoli into selling him.

This situation does sound, at best, like speculation based purely on assumptions and lazy prediction. Everton have been linked with most of the Serie A at this point following Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment, and many Napoli players especially have been rumoured to be targets of the Blues, due to Ancelotti’s connection to the club.
Allan has scored once and assisted once in 14 Serie A games for the Partenopei this season, scoring an average match rating of 6.88 in the process (WhoScored). Described as having strong dribbling, passing and tackling ability, Allan would fill a hole in Everton’s midfield that is in desperate need of filling, however, I doubt how much credence this transfer link actually deserves.
It just seems as though there is no genuine connection between the clubs, and certainly not any suggestion that interest from Everton has mounted since Allan stormed out against Fiorentina. As far as I’m concerned, this story needs a heaping helping of salt to accompany it.
