According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona are considering the sale of Alen Halilovic, as the young Croatian midfielder is not a part of Luis Enrique’s plans for next season.
Halilovic, 19, was signed from Dinamo Zagreb in 2014 for a fee of €5m. and played for Barcelona B for one season under Eusebio Sacristán, where he scored 4 goals and had 1 assist in 29 matches.
He also made his first team debut, coming on as a second-half substitute in a Copa Del Rey match against Elche.
The Croatian international was loaned out to newly-promoted Sporting Gijón for the 2015/2016 season, in 10 games, he has 2 goals and 3 assists and is the joint top goalscorer for Sporting.
Despite becoming a constant for Abelardo Fernández’s side and a revelation among the local fans, Luis Enrique and Barcelona feel that Halilovic could do with more experience in the top flight.
As a result, Halilovic could be sold at the end of the season, with a buy-back clause similar to the likes of Gerard Deulofeu and Adama Traore.
Halilovic was linked to Everton and West Ham in the summer, Roberto Martinez was searching for a mysterious foreign playmaker with the young Croat believed to be one of the candidates, but one would imagine he will have plenty of other suitors should Barcelona be willing to sell him.
