Sunderland reject fresh bid from Everton for Kone

Everton have a had fresh bid of around £20million for Lamine Kone rejected by Sunderland, according to Get Football News France.

Kone travelled to Merseyside a couple of weeks ago and is believed to be keen on a move to Goodison Park, but David Moyes is refusing to let the defender leave until he has found an adequate replacement.

Sunderland have already brought in Papy Djilobodji from Chelsea for £8m but Moyes wants to bring in another centre-back before letting the Frenchman leave.

Kone has expressed his desire to leave the Black Cats – despite only joining in January – and a deal could be struck on deadline day.

Ronald Koeman wants to have four senior central defenders in his squad and is eager to bring in a host of new signings before the deadline on Wednesday.

Southampton’s Cuco Martina, Napoli’s Manolo Gabbiadini and Sporting Lisbon’s Yacine Brahimi are all on Koeman’s radar and could all still join the club.
