Many Everton fans have been calling for Marco Silva to hand Tom Davies his chance to impress this season in recent days, and finally the midfielder got the nod last night.
The 21-year old started against Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, partnering Fabian Delph in midfield for his first start of the new campaign.
Unfortunately for the England youth international, the midfielder didn’t appear to particularly impress, as he looked shaky in possession at times.

This is despite impressing recently for England Under-21s, where he captained Aidy Boothroyd’s side in two impressive displays.
Taking to social media, a number of Everton fans shared their opinions on Davies’ performance against the Owls.

Interestingly there has been almost as many positive comments about Tom Davies online as there have been negative, so his performance against Wednesday was definitely polarising.
Davies needs to start carving out his position in this Everton team, whether that is as a bit-part player or as a starter. He is approaching the age where he needs to be making more of an impact, and games like the one against Wednesday are opportunities he needs to make count.
