Todibo wants to listen to Everton before making a decision about his future

Jean-Clair Todibo wants to listen to Everton’s offer before he makes a decision about leaving Barcelona this month, according to reports.

Numerous reports have detailed Everton’s interest in the 20-year old centre-back, who appears set to depart the Nou Camp this month.

Watford and Southampton are also in the race for the Frenchman, while AC Milan are said to be interested in his services too.

Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) reported on Monday that Milan had travelled to Barcelona to agree a deal, although the Rossoneri came back empty-handed, with Todibo wanting to wait until mid-January before he makes a decision.

The same outlet then reported on Tuesday (again, via Sport Witness) that Todibo currently has offers from Everton, Watford, Saints, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco on the table, and that while Milan’s offer was seductive, Todibo wants to listen to the Premier League offers.

It stands to reason that Todibo would like to hear out all of the potential offers he can before making a decision, as at his age, his next career step could be pivotal.

This would hopefully allow Carlo Ancelotti to steal a march on the defender, with Everton likely to offer regular football, an attractive wage packet and the long-term potential to play European football as Ancelotti looks to build for the future.

The report doesn’t make clear whether Barcelona would prefer a permanent solution or a loan deal, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Catalans opt to sell the Frenchman and insert a buy-back clause in the deal, as we’ve seen them do before with both Gerard Deulofeu and Yerry Mina.

Given Everton’s previous working relationship with Barcelona, having signed Andre Gomes, Lucas Digne, Mina and Deulofeu from them in the last ten years, the Toffees will hope that they have the edge over their competitors.
