Speaking ahead of this weekend’s trip to the King Power Stadium, Unsworth confirmed the England international is still some way off a return.
Barkley is yet to feature for Everton this season with injuries keeping him sidelined.

The attacking midfielder was linked with several moves away from the club during the summer and came close to joining Premier League champions Chelsea.
Contrasting reports have suggested that Barkley was on route to have a medical ahead of a potential move to Stamford Bridge before changing his mind at the last minute.
Spurs have also been credited with an interest with some reports suggesting they will go back in for the player when the January transfer window opens.
