Wayne Rooney arrested for suspicion of drink driving

Wayne Rooney was arrested on suspicion of drink driving in Cheshire on Thursday night, according to a report in the Mirror,

The Everton and former England striker was reportedly stopped by the police near his home after going out on Thursday evening.

The 31-year-old joined his boyhood club in Everton this summer as manager, Ronald Koeman, looked to bolster his squad for the current season, he joined on a free from Manchester United as well as the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson who joined from Swansea and Michael Keane who joined from Burnley.

If the drink driving reports are true then it wouldn’t be the first time Rooney has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Neither Rooney or Everton have made any comment about the alleged incident or arrest at this time.
