Wayne Rooney reveals why he didn’t move to China

Wayne Rooney has revealed why he didn’t move to the Chinese Super League in the summer.

The Everton striker was the subject of many enquiries from China and abroad as he attempted to leave Manchester United. The striker eventually rejected moving abroad and instead decided to return to his boyhood club.

Speaking to the BBC, Rooney said;

When I was leaving Manchester United it would have been quite easy to go abroad, to go to China, go somewhere else, pick up a lot of money and spend the last few years of my career out earning a lot of money.

That’s not me, I need those goals, I need that pressure. That desire to play would have been lost if I’d chosen that other option.

The Everton striker decided to return to Goodison, in a swap deal with Romelu Lukaku. Rooney added;

I knew that coming back to Everton was more pressure – that’s what I wanted. I wanted to prove myself again to the Everton fans and to try to help this club move forward and win silverware.
