Yerry Mina completes move to Everton

Everton have completed a deal for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina for an initial £27.2m, which can rise by a further £1.35m.

The Toffees have secured the signature of the Colombian defender, as Marco Silva looks to strengthen his side ahead of the new season.

The Colombian famously netted against England during this Summer’s World Cup, scoring a last-minute equaliser against Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Mina joins Everton after only a few months at Barcelona. The Colombian signed for Barca last January but failed to hold down a consistent starting role for the Catalan giants.

Mina has, therefore, made the move to Everton in an attempt to get more first-team football, and will be a welcome addition to the Toffee’s defence.

Mina had been linked with a move elsewhere, with Wolves and Manchester United also taking a look at the Colombian defender. However, the former Barcelona man has made the switch to Goodison Park to join Marco Silva’s Everton team ahead of the new season.

Journalist Ed Malyon reports that Barca have included a buy-back option in the deal.
