Zlatan isn’t keen on Premier League return amid Everton negotiations

Zlatan Ibrahimovic isn’t overly keen on returning to the Premier League, according to reports.

The Swedish striker has emerged as a target for Everton and their incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian keen to reunite with the man he managed at Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports have suggested that the Toffees are currently in negotiations with Zlatan over a short-term deal at Goodison Park, with the 38-year old currently a free agent after leaving LA Galaxy.

However, the Swede’s former club AC Milan are also said to be interested, although talk of his return has cooled in recent weeks after it had previously looked like a forgone conclusion.

Milan are said to have made the decorated forward a lucrative offer to return to the San Siro, although SportMediaset (via MilanNews.it) claim that the Rossoneri have yet to hear Zlatan’s response, which could be delayed until after Christmas.

It is believed that Zlatan hasn’t yet made a decision as he is waiting to hear what Everton and Ancelotti have to say, although Sempre Milan claim that the forward isn’t keen on returning to the Premier League at this moment in time.

While this doesn’t rule out Zlatan joining the Toffees, it does mean that it remains to be seen how much of a pull Ancelotti can have on being able to bring his former player to Merseyside.

It was always likely to be a tough ask for Everton to land Ibrahimovic, particularly given his age.

If Zlatan can still attract a big club like Milan, he will know that at 38-years old he doesn’t have many moves left in him, and he may not want to waste one of his last on Everton. In fact, this could be his last club, so it is all about picking the right destination for him.

It could well come down to whether he wants to turn out in Red and Black one last time, or whether he wants to work with Ancelotti one last time. If that is the case, Everton will hope the Italian is a big enough pull, but it certainly isn’t an easy one to predict.

We’ll just have to wait and see at this stage.
