Zlatan tops Ancelotti’s list of transfer targets for Everton

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is at the top of Carlo Ancelotti’s list of January recruits, according to reports.

Ancelotti has all but signed his contract to join Everton as their new manager, following Marco Silva’s sacking earlier this month, and reports claim that the Italian has demanded that money be made available to be spent in January.

The 60-year wants to put his own stamp on the Everton squad, having made clear that he wants a number of January reinforcements, and Zlatan sits at the top of that list.

Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claim that Ancelotti has made clear to Everton that he wants free agent Ibrahimovic at Goodison Park, having managed the Swede at Paris Saint-Germain.

Ancelotti reportedly had wanted to bring the 38-year old to Napoli before he was sacked, and the manager now believes that he can convince the forward to sign for the Blues, given their previous working relationship.

Everton will effectively ‘snatch’ the player away from both men’s former club AC Milan if Ancelotti is able to turn Ibrahimovic’s head, with it even suggested that Ancelotti could use Mino Raiola to his advantage, with the agent having worked with Everton recently in bringing Moise Kean to Merseyside.

I still don’t know what to make of the legitimacy of these reports, but it does certainly seem as though Everton’s supposed interest in Ibrahimovic is continuing to rise.

It does seem to me to be a positive that Ancelotti already has an idea of who he could want at Goodison Park, assuming this story is accurate. He has worked with Ibrahimovic before, he knows how he operates, and he knows the talent that he possesses.

I would imagine that the deal will ultimately come down to finances, but if Ancelotti has demanded that they be made available, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that we could expect to see the Sweden forward line-up in Royal Blue in the near future.
