Everton Predicted XI: Newcastle (H)

Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton will be hoping they can right the wrongs of the recent past against an out-of-form Newcastle side which has failed to win in their last 11 games.

The Toffees lost the reverse fixture 2-1 when they made the trip to St James’ Park three months ago, but today’s clash at Goodison Park is a contest between a high-flying Everton side and a desperate Newcastle outfit.

Magpies defender Fabian Schar has recently admitted that confidence is low in the squad as they attempt to halt an alarming slide towards a relegation battle.

Conversely, Everton are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions and enjoyed a further run of success before their 1-0 defeat against West Ham on New Year’s Day.

In the 1-1 draw with Leicester on Wednesday, Ancelotti opted to rest a few mainstays of his team in a more rotational approach to his preferred Premier League options.
