Virals: Report highlights January transfer targets at Everton

Everton have reportedly begun discussions over possible January transfer targets.

Toffees’ boss Rafa Benitez has been left bereft of options in recent weeks following a host of injuries to key players.

Those problems have subsequently amounted to a disappointing run of results as the Blues have struggled for consistency in selection.

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Everton Blue Army on Twitter, Benitez has started to assess solutions to two problem positions.

The report claims that Everton may look to offload fringe players out of Goodison Park in order to maximise what is possible in January.

Talks are said to be ‘focused around a winger and box-to-box midfielder’ as the Blues feel the loss of Abdoulaye Doucoure in particular.

One option could be Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek. The 24-year-old Dutchman was linked with a move to Merseyside in the summer and has remained on the periphery of the squad at Old Trafford.

Signing an additional midfield option is imperative in the winter as Jean-Phillippe Gbamin and Andre Gomes both struggle to stay fit for a prolonged spell.

However, adding another winger following the successful arrival of Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray would be a bizarre move.

When long-term absentee Dominic Calvert-Lewin returns to the fold Richarlison will also become another wide option, leaving the Blues well-stocked in the wing department.
