  • Everton owners, TFG are also in control of Italian side, AS Roma.
  • Purchased I Lupi in August 2020, 4 years before gaining ownership of the Toffees.
  • Various rumours about the Blues and Roma conducting transfer business.

David Moyes is set to lead Everton through their second summer transfer window since he returned to the club in January 2025.

After bringing in vital additions last summer, the Scotsman will be looking to add more quality and bulk up depth in various positions.

Recent weeks have shown weaknesses in the Toffees’ back line, and Moyes will be looking to improve options there.

Everton have faltered in their push for European football, and failure to qualify will make recruiting their desired targets that bit more difficult.

Failure to qualify could see Everton miss out on AS Roma star

Moyes’ men have been linked with AS Roma right back, Wesley, as he seeks to add a natural full back to the right side of his defence.

But if the Blues fail to qualify for a European competition, then they will likely struggle to persuade the Brazilian to enter the ranks at Hill Dickinson Stadium, according to TEAMtalk.

Although he primarily plays at right back, Wesley is a modern-day full back and has showcased his skills at both ends of the pitch.

With seven goal contributions in all competitions this season, the 22-year-old has been a key player in Roma’s league and European campaigns.

Wesley is the exact type of full back Everton need

Since Moyes returned to Everton, he briefly opted to use wing backs and slotted Jesper Lindstrom in his side as a right wing back.

This appeared to work at first as the Danish loanee showed skill in his forward play, but was on hand to help right-sided centre back, Jake O’Brien.

But after suffering an injury in March, Moyes decided to revert to a back four and has since kept this unit together with O’Brien as his first-choice right back.

The Irishman has put in a noble effort to cover this area of the pitch, yet his limitations are clear, and the defender does not have the capabilities to operate at the level a modern-day full back needs to.

Not having a right back who can push into an opponent’s third and create problems for their defence is curbing the potential of this Everton side, and it is essential they find a new starting right back this summer.

matchday.
