Jack Grealish has shared fresh footage from Finch Farm, adding to the growing sense that his permanent move to Everton is close to being resolved.
The 30-year-old has spent his rehabilitation from foot surgery on Merseyside rather than in Manchester, posting to Instagram after first getting back on the grass: “Ahhh man can’t even explain how good this felt! Best feeling ever man. Time to get ready!!”
With City’s first-team squad away on post-season leave and World Cup duty, Grealish’s decision to stay and work at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground has not, of course, gone unnoticed by supporters.
According to Football Insider, Grealish is prepared to take a significant cut to his reported £300,000-a-week wages to get a permanent deal over the line, having accepted his time at City has run its course.
Everton have made clear they have no intention of triggering the £50m purchase option written into his loan, with talks instead centred on a cut-price fee, reported to be in the £15m-£20m region, as City look to move his wages off their books before his contract enters its final year.
David Moyes has been a consistent admirer since Grealish’s arrival last summer, with the winger managing two goals and six assists in 22 appearances before his season was ended early by injury in January.
With no other club having entered the race for his signature, Everton retain the upper hand in negotiations — and Grealish’s own willingness to compromise on money suggests the outcome is no longer in doubt.
