Everton have named Hamburger SV as their opponents for this summer’s German double-header, closing out the final gap in what is now a fully confirmed pre-season schedule.
Both the men’s and women’s sides will travel to the Volksparkstadion on Saturday 1 August, with Scott Phelan’s Everton Women facing HSV-Frauen at 1.30pm CEST before David Moyes’ team takes on the Bundesliga hosts at 5pm.
It’s the detail that was missing when the bulk of the schedule was confirmed earlier this month — fixtures against Dundee, Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City and VfB Stuttgart, alongside the Newcastle United friendly at Murrayfield, were already locked in, with a second German trip pencilled in but its opponent left blank.
That blank is now filled, and it gives travelling supporters the rare chance to follow both Everton teams on foreign soil in the same weekend.
The club has played up the trip’s wider appeal, pointing to Hamburg’s shared port heritage with Liverpool and a Beatles connection that runs through both cities.
There’s a social element too: fans heading over can attend a Bongo’s Bingo evening on Friday 31 July, the Liverpool nightlife export pairing former-player appearances with the tables and atmosphere of a German beer hall, the night before the football gets underway.
Full details of the trip were confirmed in Everton’s official announcement.

From there, Moyes’ attention turns straight to the Premier League opener at Hill Dickinson Stadium, where Crystal Palace visit on Saturday 22 August (3pm BST) — full details on that and the rest of the campaign can be tracked on our fixtures and results hub.
