Social media post sparks fresh Gana Everton future speculation

A social media post shared by Idrissa Gana Gueye’s wife has prompted fresh speculation over the Everton midfielder’s future, with supporters attempting to decipher whether the Senegal international could be preparing to leave the club this summer.

The post, which appears to show belongings being packed into boxes, quickly caught the attention of Everton supporters online.

Within minutes, fans had begun drawing their own conclusions, with some viewing the images as a possible clue that Gueye could be nearing the end of his second spell at the club.

Neither Gueye nor Everton have commented publicly on the post, but its timing is notable given the uncertainty surrounding the midfielder’s future.

The 36-year-old is out of contract at the end of the month, although Everton confirmed earlier this summer that discussions over a new deal were ongoing.

Gueye remains a hugely popular figure among supporters and was one of the club’s most reliable performers during the 2025-26 campaign, despite being in the latter stages of his career.

Everton supporters search for clues

Football supporters have long treated social media as an amateur detective agency, analysing everything from cryptic captions to airport sightings and the occasional emoji.

A photograph of moving boxes was always likely to generate attention, particularly when those of a player whose future has yet to be resolved.

For now, though, there is no indication that the post represents anything more than a snapshot from the Gueye family’s personal life.

With contract talks still unresolved, supporters will inevitably continue to speculate until there is clarity from either the player or the club.

Whether the images prove to be an early sign of an Everton exit remains to be seen.
