Everton have shown interest in signing free agent goalkeeper Karl Darlow, as David Moyes looks to strengthen his goalkeeping options this summer.
Darlow’s contract at Leeds United expired at the end of June, and reports have indicated Leeds want to keep the Wales international, though there has been talk of interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Yorkshire Evening Post are reporting that Everton and Manchester United have made contract offers as they compete with Leeds to sign him.
Darlow ended last season as Leeds’ first-choice goalkeeper, having dislodged Lucas Perri under Daniel Farke in January, and played a key role in the club’s fight against relegation. He recorded a 70% save percentage, the sixth-highest in the Premier League.
Everton currently have Mark Travers as back-up to first-choice Jordan Pickford, and are believed to be in the market for a stronger option who can push him for the number two spot.
Darlow, 35, is understood to be weighing up his options between staying at Leeds or moving to Merseyside or Manchester. Everton’s academy set-up remains a separate area of investment this summer — see our latest on the club’s transfer plans.
