Luiz spent last season out on loan from Juventus, whom he joined from Aston Villa in a big-money move in 2024, and has made over 170 Premier League appearances across his career — experience that would address a central midfield position stripped of Idrissa Gana Gueye following the Senegalese international’s release this summer.
Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti is said to want to run the rule over Luiz before sanctioning a departure, and with his valuation unlikely to move far beyond his current market value, Everton could face stiff competition to get a deal done — not least from a Bournemouth side who have already shown themselves capable of moving quickly in this market.
For David Moyes, the appeal is straightforward. Luiz’s mix of ball-winning and composure in possession offers exactly the kind of balance Everton have been missing in the middle of the park, at a fee comfortably within the club’s stated budget for the position.
