Everton manager Sam Allardyce believes that both Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson are not able to play in the same team together.
As reported by Paul Joyce, Allardyce believes that the two are not compatible and he will be forced to rotate between the two.
In terms of covering the ground, (they) are very shrewd, very clever and talented players, but it’s difficult. It’s not their strength. So I have to make a big decision on who plays this one and who plays the next one.
Sigurdsson started on Saturday during Everton’s 1-1 draw at home to West Brom with Rooney dropping to the bench.
Both players are natural number 10s but were shoehorned into the same side under Ronald Koeman, which left Everton lacking any real width.
Since taking charge of the club, Allardyce has been far more receptive to the idea of rotating his squad compared to Koeman.
Under their former boss, Everton were hamstrung in the final third and lacked any pace in behind the striker.
Allardyce has been quick to rectify this issue through the signing of Theo Walcott, who joined the club from Arsenal last week and made his debut against West Brom.
