Charly Alcaraz nearing Hill Dickinson Stadium exit
  • Alcaraz signed for Everton on a loan deal from Flamengo in January 2025.
  • Made bright start for Toffees and scored in first league start against Crystal Palace.
  • After signing on a permanent deal, he has found it difficult to clock minutes.

Charly Alcaraz began his time on Merseyside with much promise.

After bagging a goal in his first league start against Crystal Palace and backing this up with multiple additional impressive performances, he convinced Everton to sign him permanently in May 2025.

But this season has been a tough one for the Argentine, with the bulk of his appearances coming from the substitutes bench.

At just 23-years-old, Alcaraz still has much to prove in his career, and the midfielder could push for a move away from the Hill Dickinson.

River Plate enquire about Charly Alcaraz

Alcaraz has already racked up an impressive number of clubs on his CV, and Argentinian giants, River Plate, have reportedly ‘asked about conditions’ for the midfielder, according to Germán García Grova.

He started his career with league rivals Racing Club, and featured in two full seasons in the Argentine Primera Division.

Grova added that the Blues have not yet decided on Alcaraz’s future, but there is a possibility that he can leave on loan, or on a permament basis.

Due to the Toffees’ poor end to their 2025-26 Premier League campaign, they failed to qualify for European football, which has meant they have failed to secure the revenue boost that comes with qualification.

Moyes is now left with the task of raising additional funds through the transfer market, and Alcaraz is one name that could end his time in a royal blue shirt.

David Moyes is left with a transfer headache

In an ideal world, Everton would have maintained their relatively impressive form from before March and secured their craved return to the European stage.

If that had been the case, then Alcaraz’s future with the Blues would likely be more certain, as he would have been an ideal squad member for depth purposes.

Yet the Toffees are unfortunately in a position that requires them to sell, in order to bring about conditions that make it flexible for them to buy.

This means that reliable squad players such as Alcaraz may be forced out of the club, solely for the purpose of making a profit, leaving Moyes with the task of choosing which players he will need to cash in on.
