Everton 1-4 Southampton – Everton Player Ratings

I don’t think there’s much left in me anymore. I’ll perk up again when we get the opening fixtures of Villa (H), Birmingham (A) and Burton (A) next season.

But this is just one of the worst football teams I’ve seen. Call it hyperbole, or get your dad to come and tell me about Walter Smith and Mike Walker. I’ll invite him in and we can down bleach until the sun rises. By that time we’ll have probably lost again.

But we’re getting relegated and it’ll be a chance to start afresh I suppose. With our youth system we might just do well down there. Calvert-Lewin will stay and so will some of the older players, so we might have the ability to come back up Newcastle-style.

Can you tell I’m a broken man?

The entire season has made me greatly appreciate the Summer. The weather is lovely, there’s no Everton matches, everyone gets excited over transfers, we have a positive view on the club, new stadium on the horizon, a future where we’ll be challenging the big boys – ‘School of Science on it’s way back, ”Awoken Giant”, Top of Spellow Lane banter’ – but then the summer was over and Everton brought in the winter, and with it, terror.

I say ‘Winter’, there may be things worse to come in Spring. As Pulis takes us to the Championship and we turn to our last name on our shortlist, Alan Curbishley.

Can you tell yet?

We shouldn’t have sacked Koeman. He should have been given time.

I’m a broken man.
