Everton and Celtic could have been given a boost as Sheffield United forward David Parkhouse has revealed that he has rejected a new contract with the Blades.
The 20-year old forward emerged as a potential target for the Toffees several months ago, following his impressive goalscoring record in the Republic of Ireland’s Airtricity League.
It had previously looked like Parkhouse was set to remain at Bramall Lane, with the young talent keen on signing a new contract with the Blades, making Everton’s task difficult.

However, with United having invested significantly on forwards in the summer, Parkhouse has now seen his path to the first-team restricted, leading him to consider his future.
Talking to the Derry Journal (via HITC), Parkhouse confirmed that he had turned a new offer down with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, saying:
I haven’t turned (the new contract) down out of disrespect to Sheffield United but you have to sit down and look at where your future is going to lie.
I’ve been up with the first team since I’ve been back, I’ve been training and done well but I have to assess whether there will be a breakthrough for me in the team at some point. Looking at it now, there’s not really going to be that opportunity.
I know where I want to be at this moment in time. And what I’ve been offered just isn’t for me at the minute. I want to be at a place where I get regular game-time, regular first team football.

Parkhouse’s quest for first-team football make me feel that Celtic are the more likely destination club to land the talented starlet, as a route to the first-team would be equally tough at Everton.
However, money talks, as does Marcel Brands, who could well impress the youngster enough for him to join, as well as the promise of working under a top manager like Carlo Ancelotti.
