Everton handed potential injury boost ahead of Southampton clash

Everton have been handed a potential injury boost ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixture against Southampton.

According to a recent report from Football.London, Saints striker Che Adams has fallen ill ahead of Scotland’s Nations League match against Ukraine.

Depending on how serious it is, this could potentially lead to the centre-forward missing out on Saturday’s match between Everton and Southampton.

If this were to happen and Adams does end up missing the weekend’s clash, this would surely be a big boost for Lampard and potentially increase the Toffees’ chances of securing a win over Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

With six Premier League games played so far this season, the Scotsman has found the net on two occasions, making him Southampton’s top scorer.

The 26-year-old has also racked up the highest average of shots per game (1.8) at the south coast club as well as the second-highest average of aerial duels won per game (3), showing how much of a tough opponent he can be.

His overall performances have earned him a season rating of 6.92/10 from WhoScored, making him the third-highest rated player at Southampton, further highlighting just how important he is to the team and why his potential absence on Saturday would be a big blow for them.

Last season saw the striker show just how tricky he can be to play against as he provide an assist in both league matches against Everton.

Taking all of this into account, if the Saints striker is unable to play at the weekend, this will surely hinder his side’s chances of securing a victory over Everton, which will definitely be a positive for Lampard.

With the Goodison Park outfit looking to seal their second Premier League win of the campaign after beating West Ham United last time out, potentially not having Adams to worry about could be the difference in seeing the Toffees pick up three points or not.
