Toffees join six-club race as Barca set exit deadline for Roony Bardghji

Everton have made contact over a move for Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji, according to Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, relayed by Sport Witness.

The Toffees join Aston Villa, Leeds, Sunderland, Fulham and Brighton as the six Premier League clubs now known to have made contact either with Bardghji’s representatives or Barcelona directly, though the report doesn’t specify which.

Everton were previously reported to have been informed of the 20-year-old’s availability; this marks a step on from that, with the club now among those actively in the conversation.

Barcelona are looking to move quickly. The Catalans want Bardghji’s situation resolved before their pre-season trip to England on 27 July, when they face Birmingham City four days later — giving any interested party roughly ten days to get a deal done.

Bardghji, who arrived from FC Copenhagen for around €2.5m last summer, scored two goals and made four assists from 28 appearances in a largely backup role behind Lamine Yamal, and has since told Hansi Flick he wants to leave, preferably on loan. Barcelona’s preference, should it be a permanent deal, is to include a buy-back option.

Competition isn’t limited to the Premier League. Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, Porto and Ajax are also credited with interest, meaning Everton will need to move decisively if David Moyes wants to win the race — both with the player and with Barcelona.

Nothing here is confirmed by either club, and Bardghji himself is yet to make a final decision.
