Everton to consider the future of Adam Aznou

  • Adam Aznou signed from Bayern Munich last summer for a fee of nearly £8 million.
  • Has struggled for first-team action since Toffees’ FA Cup loss against Sunderland.
  • Moroccan craves game time, Marseille have been linked with a potential transfer.

Adam Aznou has found his start to life on Merseyside very difficult.

He moved from Bayern Munich in the last summer transfer window as an exciting prospect, but has not been able to showcase his talents in the starting XI.

After one eventful cameo against Sunderland in the FA Cup – where he won a penalty just minutes into his debut – the 19-year-old could move away from the Blues.

Everton have been linked with bringing in more defenders, and this could give way to a potential exit for Aznou.

Marseille are linked with a move for Aznou

Marseille reportedly have a strong interest in bringing Aznou to the south of France, according to TEAMtalk.

With the 19-year-old in need of minutes, a new club could be what he is looking for in an attempt to find first-team action.

Everton also have an interest in renewing the contract of Vitalii Mykolenko, which could persuade the Moroccan to make a move elsewhere.

Aznou played 13 times on loan at Real Valladolid in the 2024-25 season and made four senior appearances for Bayern Munich in the same year.

Aznou is a modern-day full back that Everton should keep

Although Aznou has been linked with a permanent move away from Everton, a loan move for the defender would be ideal.

David Moyes has made it clear that he wants the left back to work on his physicality, and the only way for him to do this is through exposure to men’s football.

Yet it is worrying that even in times when Everton have been comfortably leading a match, or on the end of a convincing defeat, the manager does not want to give his younger players, including Aznou, a chance for first-team experience.

What is not certain is Aznou’s attitude and workload in training, and whether he has the desire to fight for a position at the Toffees.

Ultimately, the Blues’ stance on the Moroccan’s future remains unclear, and they will be forced into deciding whether to give the young man a genuine opportunity to stake a claim in the first team, or move him on and find another left back elsewhere.
