To quote an ex-England manager – always a good start – ‘I don’t know why I’m here’.
Genuinely.
We’re out, I don’t really want to go that much but because we’re all off our heads we’ll go and be annoyed when we lose anyway.
That’s if we’re not killed by the Atalanta ultras who will be scattered around Goodison. Or if we don’t just drop dead watching Sandro Ramírez. Which is quite the task.
To be honest though, it’s an opportunity to give some games to players who need it, and for others, it’s probably last chance saloon.
We’re not a good side and we’re heading into a competition we’re already out of by a team that will be looking for a win to secure top spot. We’re going to get battered, just in time for some crucial Premier League games.
But it’s the Ev’ under the floodlights at Goodison and that’s never really a bad thing.
