It’s that wonderful time of the year again where the Christmas lights come out and everyone is feeling festive. However after we’re done with it, we all start to feel down and depressed, as though there’s an emptiness. No, not Christmas, but the Merseyside Derby.
Except this year we’re all aided by the fact that wherever we look on Twitter it’s someone reminding us that it’s been eighteen years since we’ve won at that ground over there against that team over there, and that it’s useless to feel hopeful about it because we know it’s inevitable. Then some fans will retort that we have to keep positive, ”It starts with the fans! #NSNO” and all that.
To be honest I’m sick of people mentioning the game and we’re not even at the weekend yet. It’s just another game of togger that Everton play in a regular season aided by the fact they’re a bit more local to us than other teams.
But beyond that apathy there is obviously something nice about putting a few past them – not that I’d know, at least in my lifetime – at Anfield.
Anyway. Twitter has done most of my job for me. Providing the build up and the stats, so I’ll just give you my team.
