Garner tops Premier League ranking as three Everton players make top 10

James Garner completed more passes than any other Premier League player during the latest round of fixtures, with three Everton players featuring in the top 10.

According to figures published by Squawka, Garner completed 85 passes in Everton’s 2-2 draw at Hull City and was the only player in Gameweek 6 to reach 80. Manchester City’s Elliot Anderson was second with 73, while Chelsea defender Levi Colwill completed 71.

Three Everton players in Premier League top 10

James Tarkowski was joint-fourth with 70 completed passes, while Michael Keane was joint-eighth on 65. Everton therefore had three players in the Premier League’s top 10, with much of their possession at Hull going through Garner and the two central defenders.

The numbers came despite a performance which left David Moyes unhappy. Everton recovered from falling behind through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall before Thierno Barry put them 2-1 ahead, only for Hull to equalise and secure a point.

Moyes described Everton’s display as “so far below our level” and said their defending had been “naive to say the least”.

Garner’s passing numbers were one positive from the afternoon, with his total 12 higher than any other player in the Premier League during the latest round. Everton remain unbeaten in the league and host Chelsea at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday.
