James Rodriguez dismisses Madrid return in Twitch livestream

James Rodriguez has re-affirmed his commitment to Everton in off-the-cuff comments during a Twitch livestream of the Colombian gaming.

Displaying a level of relaxation and comfort not typically seen in the more formal setting of interviews, Rodriguez admitted to fans that he has been evaluating his future options in his career.

Spanish media outlet Defensa Central recently claimed that the playmaker is becoming unsettled in England and increasingly unhappy with life on Merseyside, linking him with a possible move to Atletico Madrid.

However, the midfielder strenuously dismissed a suggestion that the 29-year-old could return to his former club Real Madrid, who allowed him to leave for free last year. When asked by a fellow Twitch user about the possibility of going back to the Bernabeu, Rodriguez quipped (via Fichajes): “Nobody wants me there anymore. That’s part of football, guys.

“It’s not in my plans, really. Who knows in two, three or four years because life and football takes many turns, but I think not. Right now I don’t think so.”

Rodriguez’s contract with Everton runs until 2022, with a club option for one extra year (BBC). Carlo Ancelotti recently dismissed the aforementioned reports about the playmaker being unhappy with the English weather and physicality of the Premier League.

With Ancelotti having already shed insights into his working relationship with Rodriguez, any speculation linking the Colombian with a swift exit from Goodison Park is unfounded.

With more than a year still ahead of him as a Toffee, Rodriguez would likely opt to see out his contract at the very least before considering his next career move.

Given his fine form this season (five goals and eight assists), there is every chance that Everton will activate the option to extend his contract, prolonging his creative spark on Merseyside.
