Trusted Everton source Paul Joyce has seemingly revealed that all recent reports of Everton’s interest in Wilfried Zaha were not accurate.
According to Joyce on Twitter, Everton’s only bid for Zaha was of £52million and was made on July 28th, which was rejected and Everton promptly decided that they didn’t wish to return with another offer.
Everton were willing to go up to £60million to sign the 26-year old but Palace were demanding much more, of which Everton weren’t willing to pay.

Joyce also confirmed that a deal for Marcos Rojo fell apart with Everton refusing to make an offer for a permanent transfer.

Ask any Everton fan about transfer speculation and they’ll tell you to wait until Joyce has tweeted it. In today’s journalism marketplace there are so many sources of information, all trying to be the first, and sometimes it is better to sit and wait for the ones you trust.
Either way, it’s refreshing (if you squint and tilt your head) to hear that Everton were never really in with a shout for Zaha, so today didn’t see the club fail as badly as many assumed they had to get their affairs in order.
More importantly, the Crystal Palace game is on Saturday, and with the window close and Iwobi on the way (fingers crossed) we can look forward to the Premier League’s opening round of fixtures.
