Manchester United 1-1 Everton – Player Ratings.

Not many of us – me included – had any hope going into the fixture and that is completely reasonable given the horror show at their place.

An altered team allowed room for Barry and Mirallas to make starts in place of Pennington and Calvert-Lewin, with Koeman signalling his want for experience on a pivotal night for Everton’s ambitious chase for the top Six. However, the choice may have backfired a little with Barry being his usual self and losing out many times in the first half. Another experienced head in Leighton Baines also appeared tired throughout the first 45, struggling to cope entirely with Lingard’s trickery and seemed to be distant when it came to launching counter attacks.

We went into the break 1-0 up through a shock Phil Jagielka goal – who had a stunning first half – where he improvised a flick through the legs of David De Gea, who was the second best Spanish goalkeeper on the pitch during the game, as Joel Robles played a masterclass.

The second half started with the referee progressively losing control on the affair, with missed fouls and mistimed bookings aplenty.

The second half ended with a United barrage that we fought incredibly hard to deal with and it looked like we pulled through until Ashley Williams made what appears to be the worst decision i’ve ever seen an Everton player make at the worst time.
