James McCarthy has ended speculation over his future by signing a new five-year-deal with Everton.
The former Wigan midfielder had been linked with the likes of Tottenham and Manchester City but after a lot of paper talk about his contract situation, he has signed up until 2020.
The 24-year-old has been one of Everton’s most important players since his £13million move to Goodison Park, and has said on multiple occasions that he is very happy at Goodison Park.
McCarthy had three years left on his previous deal with Everton and his new contract will make him one of the top earners at the club.
Kevin Mirallas is also on the verge of signing a new deal with the Blues, according to the Guardian.
Mirallas had been linked with the likes of Tottenham and West Ham United, but reports suggest the Belgian winger will also sign a new deal to stay on Merseyside.
Roberto Martinez will now turn his attentions bolstering the squad.
