Following reports that Jose Mourinho has rejected an approach from Lyon as he prefers a Premier League move, new reports claim the manager has already chosen his next club.
We covered the story yesterday that Mourinho had turned down the opportunity to replace Sylvinho, with many Everton fans subsuquently getting excited by Mourinho’s desire to remain in England.
With Marco Silva under pressure and with bookies touting the Everton boss as the next manager to be sacked, a number of Everton fans had hoped that Mourinho could come in to replace his compatriot.

However, according to Daily Mercato, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that Mourinho has already chosen his next club. As quoted in the report, Aulas said:
We had quite flattering discussions by SMS, it’s rewarding for everyone, he did not follow up on our meeting proposal because he has already chosen another club.
Unconfirmed speculation this week on social media claimed that Everton were likely to give Silva the West Ham game as the final chance to turn his fortunes around on Merseyside, but could they be ready to bite the bullet and appoint Mourinho?

In short, I don’t think so. I would be very surprised if the club Mourinho has his sights set on is Everton. That being said, it would be a great surprise for the club to pull off, albeit unlikely.
I can’t think of an alternative though, which does make it interesting. I’m not sure who Mourinho goes to, unless he does decide to leave the Premier League behind. He could be waiting on Mauricio Pochettino or Unai Emery to get the axe, and has his sights set on Tottenham or Arsenal. Ultimately, we don’t know.
But while some fans may be excited by the prospect of Jose Mourinho in Everton’s dugout, I wouldn’t get too ahead of the game. It would be a huge surprise, and not something I’d expect to see happening any time soon if at all.
