Everton are continuing to talk to Lewis Gibson over a new contract, with a number of clubs circling amid the uncertainty over his future.
The 19-year old defender will see his contract with the Toffees expire at the end of the season, having signed a three-year contract with the club in 2017.
The highly regarded centre-back signed from Newcastle for around £6million, and with his path to the first-team currently unclear, the defender is pondering his options.
The Liverpool Echo report that Gibson is looking for assurances over his pathway at Goodison Park before he agrees to commit himself to the club, and that his decision will be purely career driven and not related to financial offers.

It was first reported several months ago that Newcastle were keen on re-signing Gibson, and it is now believed that the Magpies still hold significant interest in the young defender.
As well as the Tyneside outfit, Celtic are also interested in the centre-back, while clubs from Germany and the Netherlands are also tracking his contract situation.
Rotherham United and Ipswich both want to sign Gibson on loan, while Fleetwood Town are also said to be interested this month.

Gibson had once appeared to be on the cusp of making his first-team debut, and for him to leave Goodison Park this summer, it would be a disappointing sign that Everton aren’t managing their young talented players appropriately.
Anthony Gordon made his Everton debut earlier this season, and as such, many fans now believe it is time for Gibson to be given his debut nod.

Should Gibson not be at the requisite level, it wouldn’t be the biggest loss for him to depart Merseyside. However many are in the dark over his ability and his potential, and they would like to see him first hand to draw their own conclusions.
