Tottenham 3-2 Everton – Five things we learned about the Blues

On Sunday, Everton made their last ever visit to Tottenham’s White Hart Lane and it wasn’t one to remember fondly with the North London side giving the Toffees a lesson in how to play the pressing game.

The 3-2 scoreline flattered the Blues in the end as Tottenham dominated the game from start to finish, so much so that Ronald Koeman’s men were lucky to still be in the game at half time, after Spurs had wasted multiple chances to increase their one goal lead.

All three of Tottenham’s goals were avoidable. Better closing down could have prevented Harry Kane’s first half wonder strike, sloppy defending and a sense of ignorance towards Tottenham’s press caused the second goal and a complete lack of concentration led to Dele Alli’s finish.

Everton did have a short spell were they looked somewhat competitive in the second half, resulting in a Romelu Lukaku goal. However even that needed a slip from Jan Vertonghen.

Overall ,Everton were pretty dismal for the most part but luckily for us, Koeman’s side are still learning and there were definitely a few lessons to be taken out of this game.
