Virals: Everton fan goes on anti-Rafa rant

With a hotbed of anger continuing to reverberate around Goodison Park, one fan has spearheaded the discontent with an extraordinary remonstration against the Everton gaffer.

Going viral on talkSPORT, Everton fan Lee told the station that he wants to see Rafael Benitez leave the club.

Speaking to Hugh Woozencroft after the Toffees lost 5-2 to Watford at home in an embarrassing capitulation – one in which the Toffees led twice – Benitez and his long-associated striker Salomon Rondon were singled out as targets.

Going from a 2-1 Richarlison-inspired lead to a 5-2 defeat, the boos rang out around the ground following the defeat.

To compound matters, Joshua King – who joined the Toffees in a fruitless five-month spell in January – scored a hattrick as he came back to haunt his former employers.

As noted by Goodison News, Lee the Evertonian summed up the misery endured by the Blues as he spoke to the radio station.

Calling in, Lee said:

“I am devastated.”

Woozencroft then responded: “Tell us why?”

Lee then detailed why he was so unhappy.

“I thought the substitutions were absolutely poor. He brought off virtually our best player in young Anthony Gordon,” said the Evertonian.

“As soon Gordon [came] off, there was nothing, we lost shape, we lost absolutely everything.

“He [Rondon] cannot score for toffees. He’s been brought in as backup; he’s done nothing; he didn’t even have a shot.

“Some of them are just not doing it; they either need to [step] up or get out of the club.

“That goes for Rafa as well. [He has shown his colours].”

Evidently, there is a feeling that Everton’s bright honeymoon period is at risk of falling off.

The Blues are still missing a number of key figures with Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin out through injury, whilst Richarlison has only just been cleared to return.

In that sense, perhaps this is a watershed moment in which Everton’s quality in depth is coming up short.
