Everton to make big money bid for Lozano in the summer

Everton will make a sizeable offer for Napoli winger Hirving Lozano in the summer, according to the print version of Corriere dello Sport, cited by Area Napoli.

Lozano was linked with the Blues in January, with Corriere dello Sport (via Calcio Napoli 1926) claiming that the Toffees wanted to sign the Mexican winger, with the 24-year having ‘flopped’ since signing for Napoli from PSV last summer.

Following that report, speaking on Canale 21’s Il Bello del Calcio show, as reported by Napoli Magazine, director of Corriere dello Sport Ivan Zazzaroni claimed to have been told personally by Carlo Ancelotti that Lozano would be a summer target for the Toffees.

Now Corriere dello Sport claim that Everton will make a move of around €40-€42million for Lozano once the season has ended.

The report also claims that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis would not oppose a sale, while manager Gennaro Gattuso would also give the green light after he signed Matteo Politano from Inter Milan in January.

There are a couple of elements to this story that could easily convince someone that it is nailed on to happen in the summer.

Marcel Brands was the man who brought the forward to PSV during his time at the club, while Ancelotti brought Lozano to Napoli last summer.

With both key figures at Goodison Park having personal connections to Lozano, it is certainly more believable that the club want him than most supposed transfer targets.

The Mexican was electric during his time at PSV, scoring 21 times in all competitions in his final season in the Eredivisie (Transfermarkt), however, he has failed to recapture that form in Naples, scoring twice in 15 Serie A appearances this season (Transfermarkt).

With Marcel Brands detailing Everton’s need for a right-sided midfielder at the club’s AGM last month, Lozano would be an exciting signing that would certainly tick a box.
