Thierno Barry’s start to the season remained a major talking point at Everton on Monday after the striker revealed more about the shoulder problem which affected his first year at the club.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has also explained the demands he places on Barry, while David Moyes faces a decision over how best to use Jack Grealish. Everton have also been linked with Rennes striker Esteban Lepaul.
Here is the latest Everton news from Monday, 12 October.
Barry reveals extent of shoulder problem
Barry has revealed he played through a shoulder problem during his first season at Everton, saying it felt as though he had “one arm less”.
The striker told YouTuber Just Riadh that the injury made it difficult to compete physically with Premier League defenders. Barry played in all 38 league games last season, starting 21 and scoring eight goals.
His second season has begun with six goals in eight appearances, including one in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Hull City. Barry has since told supporters there is “more to come”, while admitting he could have scored more at the MKM Stadium.

Dewsbury-Hall, who scored Everton’s first goal at Hull before setting up Barry, has described his relationship with the striker as “love-hate”.
“We have a love-hate relationship because I expect so much of him and sometimes I’ll probably annoy him,” he said.
Dewsbury-Hall described Barry as one of the hardest-working players he has played with and said he would continue demanding more from him.

Moyes faces Grealish question
Moyes also faces a decision over how best to use Grealish in an Everton side which has caused problems by attacking quickly.
Journalist Ian Croll believes Grealish’s preference to receive the ball to feet and retain possession can contrast with Everton’s threat in transition.
Grealish was regularly involved from the left at Hull but struggled to turn that possession into clear chances. Everton’s second goal came in more direct fashion, with Dewsbury-Hall releasing Barry to put Moyes’ side ahead.

Everton linked with Rennes striker Lepaul
Everton are reportedly showing the strongest Premier League interest in Rennes striker Esteban Lepaul.
TEAMtalk says Everton, Aston Villa and Leeds United looked at the 26-year-old during the summer, while Brentford and Brighton have also monitored him.
Lepaul scored 20 Ligue 1 goals for Rennes last season after previously scoring 10 in the league for Angers. There has been no reported bid or approach from Everton.

Chelsea next for unbeaten Everton
Everton remain unbeaten after eight competitive matches this season, with Sunday’s draw at Hull leaving them on 10 points from six Premier League games.
Chelsea visit the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off at 12.30pm. Moyes will be looking for a response after describing Everton’s performance at Hull as “very, very poor”.
