Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has revealed he has a “love-hate relationship” with Everton teammate Thierno Barry because of how much he expects from the striker.
Both players scored in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Hull City. Dewsbury-Hall brought Everton level before his pass sent Barry through to make it 2-1. Barry was hard on himself after the game, admitting he should have scored more after missing several chances.
Dewsbury-Hall demands more from Barry
Dewsbury-Hall said Barry’s attitude in training has impressed him. “We have a love-hate relationship because I expect so much of him and sometimes I’ll probably annoy him,” he said.
He described Barry as one of the hardest-working players he has played with and said the striker had returned this season “really hungry”.
“I’ll keep wanting more from him, but only because I like him and want the best for him,” Dewsbury-Hall added.
Barry eventually took his chance at Hull for his sixth goal of the season, although he felt he should have had more. Dewsbury-Hall was our highest-rated Everton player against Hull, scoring once and setting up Barry.
David Moyes was far less satisfied with Everton’s performance, describing his side as “very, very poor” after they allowed Hull back into the game. Mohamed Belloumi’s 74th-minute goal meant Everton had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
