Amanda Staveley is among the names being discussed as a possible buyer of Everton after The Friedkin Group opened the door to a sale.
The former Newcastle United co-owner has been linked with a return to football, and Everton is a club she has been connected with before. There is no evidence at this stage that Staveley has approached TFG or Moelis & Company, the investment bank appointed to handle the process.
Staveley name resurfaces after Everton announcement
Staveley left Newcastle in 2024 and has since been linked with other football investments, including reports that she has sought backing from US investors and also that she is acting as a broker.
Her name has now resurfaced following Friday’s announcement at Everton, although there is nothing yet to suggest talks have taken place. Other familiar names may also be mentioned as the process develops.
Andy Bell and George Downing were involved in an attempt to buy Everton in 2024, with backing linked to the family office of technology billionaire Michael Dell. There has been no report that they are preparing another bid.
Todd Boehly and Elon Musk have also been mentioned on social media since Friday. Neither has been credibly reported to have approached Everton… thankfully.
TFG confirmed it is considering new investment options, including the potential sale of its controlling interest.
Reports have put Everton’s possible valuation at around £800m, including approximately £380m of debt, as covered in our look at the reported asking price.
David Moyes has meanwhile spoken about what he wants from any future Everton owner, saying they should understand the club, its culture and its supporters. No bidder has yet been confirmed as Moelis begins sounding out interest.
