Everton owners The Friedkin Group have confirmed they are exploring fresh investment in the club, including the potential sale of their controlling stake.
The American group only completed its takeover from Farhad Moshiri in December 2024, bringing an end to years of uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership.
Less than two years later, however, TFG are prepared to consider handing over control if a suitable buyer comes forward.
“The Friedkin Group is exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest,” the club confirmed on Friday.
Friedkins appoint advisers over Everton investment
TFG believe Everton are now on a much stronger footing than when they arrived, with the club’s finances stabilised and the move to the new stadium completed.
The owners said that work had provided the foundations for Everton’s future and made this the right time to consider what comes next. They have appointed investment bank Moelis & Company to oversee the process, although there is no guarantee that it will result in a sale.
The Times reports that Everton could be valued at around £800million including debt. Any deal would bring another change of ownership on Merseyside barely two years after Moshiri’s turbulent reign came to an end.
For now, TFG remain in control and have said they will continue to support Everton while they assess their options.
