Everton lead Premier League interest in Rennes striker

Everton reportedly lead the Premier League interest in Rennes striker Esteban Lepaul.

TEAMtalk says Everton, Aston Villa and Leeds United looked at the 26-year-old during the summer, with Brentford and Brighton also monitoring him. Everton are reported to have shown the strongest interest so far in the France international.

Everton linked with Esteban Lepaul

Lepaul scored 20 Ligue 1 goals for Rennes last season, having previously found the net 10 times in the league for Angers. His form has continued this season, and Rennes handed him a new long-term contract during the summer.

Everton already have Thierno Barry leading the line under David Moyes, with the striker scoring his sixth goal of the season in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Hull City.

Barry had several other chances at the MKM Stadium and admitted after the game that he should have scored more. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has also spoken about how much he expects from Barry, describing their relationship as “love-hate” after the pair combined for Everton’s second goal at Hull.

Lepaul would give Moyes another option through the middle if Everton decide to pursue their interest. There has been no reported bid or approach to Rennes at this stage, with several Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the striker.
