Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has sent a message to the club’s fans about the importance of staying indoors and refraining from taking part in social activities.

The current pandemic has seen the country put on lockdown, leaving Premier League football at a standstill.

Footballers across England have been using their high profiles to encourage fans to take government advice and stay at home, and Gomes has now followed suit with a recent social media post.

The Portuguese midfielder is somewhat of a fan favourite at Goodison Park after his consistent performances, before he suffered a bad injury which saw him ruled out for the most part this term.

Gomes initially arrived on loan with Everton from La Liga giants Barcelona, before making a permanent switch to the Merseyside based club last summer.

Returning from injury in February, the former Barca midfielder has since made 11 appearances for the Toffees, and he will undoubtedly be hoping to play a further part in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans when football resumes this season.

Reacting to Gomes’ message via the club’s official Twitter account, fans shared heaped praise on the 26-year-old.
