Everton have again been linked with Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira as transfer speculation continues to mount, with the 33-year-old seemingly keen on a reunion with his former manager Carlo Ancelotti.
According to reports from Calciomercato, Ancelotti has reciprocated Khedira’s eagerness and the player himself desires a Premier League move. To that effect, the publication claimed he has informed his agent to look for a suitor in England.
Ancelotti managed the former Germany international during his spell at Real Madrid, where Khedira won the Champions League under the Italian’s tutelage.
In a further boost, the midfielder recently singled out the Everton manager for high praise, saying: “There are many coaches, even in the Premier League that I respect a lot. Ancelotti is doing a great job at the moment and is a great personality. He is one of the coaches who impressed me.”
Khedira wrote himself into the history books by lifting the 2014 World Cup with Germany in what is a testament to the 33-year-old’s winning mentality and playing abilities.
The midfielder has since been a five-time Serie A winner following his move to the Turin giants in 2015, but has since fallen down the pecking order and has failed to feature under new manager Andrea Pirlo this season.
Khedira, who is out of contract in the summer, may be available cheaply to the Toffees as a result. He continues to train with Juve, but reports by Sky Sports have indicated that he has essentially been told he is unwanted at the club, refusing to sign a termination agreement with the Turin side.
Khedira had previously indicated that he holds a strong desire to play in the Premier League, even calling it an ‘honour’ to have the chance to play in the English top flight. He told Sky Germany:
When I was a child it was always a big dream of mine to be a Premier League player.
I am really happy and satisfied with my career until now but one thing is still missing because I always had this dream and it has never come true… to be a part of the Premier League.
I have watched so many Premier League games since I was young [but] even now I am following the Premier League a lot.
I enjoyed always to play with my teams to play in the Champions League against the English clubs. The atmosphere, the style and idea of football has always impressed me.
If it is possible it will for sure be a really big dream [come true] and honour to be a part of the Premier League.

Khedira could add plenty of experience and leadership to the Toffees, while his contract situation could make him a bargain buy. His relationship with Ancelotti will likely also serve as another crucial factor to any move for the midfielder.
As a result, he could be a shrewd acquisition by the Toffees, with all parties seemingly open to the move.
