- Dewsbury-Hall joined Everton this season from Chelsea for a reported £28m fee.
- Midfielder has 12 goal involvements this season for Everton in the Premier League.
- Hopes that a big push over the final four games will propel the Toffees to Europe.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall joined Everton last summer with a point to prove. After a frustrating season at Chelsea, where he started only twice in the Premier League, the 27‑year‑old has rediscovered his best form at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
With eight goals and four assists in 28 league appearances, he has become the creative heartbeat of David Moyes’ side and a key reason Everton remains in the hunt for European football.
On a recent edition of Monday Night Football, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher delivered a glowing assessment of the midfielder, comparing him favourably to Florian Wirtz.
Carragher believes Dewsbury-Hall has been a revelation for Everton
Carragher admitted he had questions about where Dewsbury‑Hall would fit into Everton’s system. “When they brought him in, I was actually trying to work out how Everton would fit the players in, with Grealish there and Ndiaye at the club as well,” he said. “I was thinking he might play a little bit deeper. When I saw him in the number 10 role I was surprised a little bit. Maybe I hadn’t seen enough of him at his previous clubs.”
But the midfielder quickly dispelled all Carragher doubts. “But he’s been a revelation,” Carragher continued. “And when you think today with the two number 10s, who’d have thought that Dewsbury‑Hall would be having a much better season than Florian Wirtz. But that is definitely the case.
“You think of the vital goal he got at Brentford to get Everton a point. Liverpool need a lot more from Wirtz and certainly when you think of what Dewsbury‑Hall’s done, he’s done exactly what you want from a player in that number 10 position.”
Dewsbury‑Hall: ‘It’s been amazing to play regular football again’
The midfielder himself has spoken about his satisfaction with the season. “I had a lot of ambitions coming into this year, obviously joining at a new club,” Dewsbury-Hall said. “It’s a new chapter in my career and it’s been amazing to play regular football again and contribute to the team by scoring some nice goals and getting some assists.
“I am happy with how it has gone so far and I’m hoping we can finish strongly.”
Dewsbury‑Hall’s eight league goals are the most by any Everton player this season alongside Beto. He has also chipped in with four assists this season and created several big chances. The midfielder has been Moyes go-to man, more after Grealish’s season-ending injury.
Dewsbury‑Hall has been everything Everton hoped for and more. As the season enters its final phase, his form could yet propel the Toffees into Europe. And if he continues to perform like that, his £28m fee will look like one of the bargains of the season.
